Because of the rapid growth in membership applications that exceeds the rate of new volunteers, the Board of Directors has initiated a waiting list for membership in Nauset Neighbors. For the time being, one new member will be accepted for every two new volunteers that are recruited. This will attempt to restore the original 2:1 ratio of volunteers to members that we had at the start of operations.
The growth in service requests has outpaced both the number of members and t
he number of volunteers. As a result, we need to slow down the rate at which new members are accepted from the towns of Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans and Brewster. The waiting list will not affect the expansion to Harwich and Chatham which have their own initial goals for the ratio of volunteers to members.
